When, one by one, Sethran Kada’s friends disappear — all guardians of a dangerous secret — it’s time to worry.

Joined by his partner Ciela, Seth is drawn into a desperate search stretching from rebel strongholds to the dangerous fringes of Commonwealth space. What begins as a rescue mission quickly unravels into something far larger: a breakthrough threatening to expose the secrets of Killian’s Maze, a hidden network buried deep within subspace itself.

A discovery powerful enough to reshape civilization.

Or destroy it.

As rebel factions close in and loyalties begin to fracture, Seth must decide how far he is willing to go to protect the people he cares about — and what sacrifices he is prepared to make once the Maze begins pulling them all beyond the limits of endurance and understanding.

An outcast princess must earn her birthright as a hero of the realm—in this “utterly engrossing” Newbery Medal–winning fantasy (The New York Times).

Aerin is an outcast in her own father’s court, daughter of the foreign woman who, it was rumored, was a witch, and enchanted the king to marry her.

She makes friends with her father’s lame, retired warhorse, Talat, and discovers an old, overlooked, and dangerously imprecise recipe for dragon-fire-proof ointment in a dusty corner of her father’s library. Two years, many canter circles to the left to strengthen Talat’s weak leg, and many burnt twigs (and a few fingers) secretly experimenting with the ointment recipe later, Aerin is present when someone comes from an outlying village to report a marauding dragon to the king. Aerin slips off alone to fetch her horse, her sword, and her fireproof ointment . . .

But modern dragons, while formidable opponents fully capable of killing a human being, are small and accounted vermin. There is no honor in killing dragons. The great dragons are a tale out of ancient history.

That is, until the day that the king is riding out at the head of an army. A weary man on an exhausted horse staggers into the courtyard where the king’s troop is assembled: “The Black Dragon has come . . . Maur, who has not been seen for generations, the last of the great dragons, great as a mountain. Maur has awakened.”

Dropping out of sub-space into the wrong galactic sector, Sethran Kada wakes up with a headache and an extraordinary alien aboard his ship. She implores him to help stop the abductions of her people, a newly evolved species emerging from sub-space. Their dangerous potential has caught the attention of rebel factions as well as the ruling Commonwealth. When contact with her kind turns pilots into casualties, the Governors fear an imminent invasion engineered by their rebel enemies.

Pursued by Air Command, Seth heads deep into rebel-controlled territory to recover the stolen entities and keep this deadly weapon from falling into the wrong hands. Things get personal when his alien visitor begins to transform his mind and his life, turning the rescue mission into a fight for survival for all of them.

Quantum Tangle is part of Chris Reher’s Targon Tales series but does not intersect the other stories. Sethran Kada previously appeared in The Catalyst and also in Rebel Alliances.

Secrets, swords, and a touch of dragon fire
” A top fun comfort read.”~ Gail Carriger

Everyone expects Sir Fitzwilliam Darcy to fix their problems: estate management, endorse a courtship, hide from the Blue Order Council dragons. Some were more difficult that others, but still within the realm of a Pendragon Knight.

The mounting dangers to the Blue Order and all of Dragonkind, though, dealing those would require more effort. Perhaps after a strong cup of coffee—not tea, world-ending disasters required coffee.

Dragon Sage Elizabeth’s pregnancy had left her tired and cranky and as big as a dragon. But her father’s emergency visit … best just say, it did not foster pleasant tea time conversations.

Between his entitled demands and his socially-inappropriate dragon assistant, Bede, nothing is sacred. Not correspondence, not locked rooms, and especially not the secrets Bede is supposed to be keeping, rather than whispering into the ears of impressionable young firedrake, Pemberley.

Of course, Pemberley intends to do something with all the secrets she isn’t supposed to know. Things which could turn the Blue Order on its ear. Things which would soon make Elizabeth and Darcy’s world very, very complicated.

Swords, poisons, and a touch of dragon fire could be required to set things back to rights. But first maybe coffee.

A fresh new gaslamp fantasy adventure in the engrossingly intricate world of Jane Austen’s Dragons. Anne McCaffrey meets Jane Austen, a perfect mix for dragon lovers and regency-era fans alike.

It is a truth universally acknowledged that a single man in possession of a good fortune must be in want of a dragon.

Fitzwilliam Darcy of Pemberley has the good fortune to be in possession of the first English firedrake egg laid in a century. Or, at least, he was until some miscreant stole it. Mr. Darcy tracks the thief to Hertfordshire. Catching the thief, however, proves to be an entirely different kettle of brimstone, especially when he encounters fellow Dragon Keeper, Miss Elizabeth Bennet of Longbourn.

Elizabeth Bennet’s deep connection to dragons and remarkable grasp of their lore make her the ideal companion for finding the egg. It’s too bad that from their introduction she finds Darcy arrogant, conceited, and selfishly disdainful of the feelings of others.

Time is running out for Darcy to win Elizabeth’s trust and recover the precious egg before it hatches, and the fragile peace between humans and dragons is lost forever.

Meryton meets Pern in a fantastical regency romp bound to delight readers of Jane Austen and Anne McCaffrey alike.

What if the ordinary family you crave finds you? Only they’re not ordinary, neither are you, and neither are the vampire neighbours raising your twin sister.

An accident is all it takes to turn my mundane life in a London children’s home upside down.

Power and magic lurk at the priory, my new home in the Oxfordshire countryside, and I learn fast that nothing is ordinary around here. Not my newfound family—the Penhaligons. Not my long-lost twin sister. And not the hostile new neighbours—a coven of vampires, vaewolves and demons.

As I grapple with family secrets, four powerful new brothers, and latent abilities of my own, my sister and the man who raised her find themselves in mortal danger—a danger that draws me and my family into a battle to save them.

Finally embracing the meaning of family, two questions burn at the back of my mind.

If vampires and demons exist, what are the Penhaligons?

And what am I?
